The top seed has lost the championship game three times in five seasons
2021, 2023 and 2025 — and only one man has ever converted the first seed into a title.
The exception is Ronnie in 2024, whose season is the only wire-to-wire one on record: top seed, best record at 11-3, and the league lead in Points For. Every other year the man who finished first in the regular season was beaten by somebody who did not.
The three who were denied: Scott in 2021 (Human Claypool, 11-3), Ryan in 2023 (Centerfold, 11-3), and Evan in 2025 (LaPorta Potty, 11-3). All three finished 11-3. All three lost the last game of the year.
The Office declines to draw a lesson from this. The Office simply keeps the record.
Scoring the most points all year is closer to a curse than an advantage
The regular-season points leader has lost the final in four of five seasons. One man has led the League in scoring and won it, once.
Scott led in 2021 with 1800.36 and lost. Justin led in 2022 with 1749.50 and lost. Ryan led in 2023 with 1867.94 — the highest total in League history — and lost. Evan led in 2025 with 1769.86 and lost.
Ronnie in 2024 is the whole of the other column: 1864.12, and a title.
Four of the five men above were also the first seed in the years they led, so this finding and Finding I are not independent observations. They are the same fact viewed from two angles, which is the Office's way of saying that the thing this League rewards is not the thing it measures.
Two six-seeds have won this League at 7–7
Twice as many titles as the first seed has managed over the same five years. The Office notes this without comment, at length.
Justin took the 2021 title from the six seed at 7-7, with The Master Baiters. Jordan took the 2023 title from the six seed at 7-7, with Trippy Boyz. In both years the man they beat in the final was an 11-3 first seed who had led or very nearly led the League in scoring.
The first seed has one title in five seasons. The six seed has two.
Both champions finished the regular season having won exactly half their games, which is the minimum a playoff berth in this League has ever required, and is therefore the correct amount.
The highest-scoring season in League history lost to a 7–7 team
1867.94 points, 2023, an eleven-win first seed. It is the single most instructive number in the record and it is not close.
Ryan's Centerfold scored more in one regular season than any team has before or since. It entered the postseason as the first seed at 11-3. It lost the championship game to Jordan's Trippy Boyz, the six seed, at 7-7 — a team that had lost exactly as many games as it had won.
Every ingredient this League tells itself matters was present on one roster that year, in record quantity, and the season still ended the way it ended.
